Dry food is the most practical: it keeps easily, lasts a long time, and is less expensive. Plus, if we're choosing well, there are foods designed to maintain the health of your cat at every stage of it's growth, and will also benefit oral health.
There are also negatives though: Cats tend to consume smaller quantities of water, and easily become dehydrated. In nature, felines consume liquid through their foods, which helps make of up for the liquid they don't drink. If your cat only eats dry food, make sure that you see him drinking often.
