Long before the selfie days...
It's hard to imagine life today without a smartphone packed full of adorable pictures of our furry friends. If you're like many of us, your cat pictures might even outnumber ones of yourself, your friends, or even your family!
But in the 1800s, photography was just being born into what we know today. More than a century before smartphones could store thousands of HD shots with ease, even just one low-grade (by today's standards) photograph was precious.
And this might be the first ever portrait photograph taken of a cat...
