UNBELIEVABLE PICTURES: This is the World's Longest Cat

Omar was just a normal kitty when his owner brought him home. What made him grow so big: his genes, or perhaps his special diet...?!

Omar is a Maine Coon cat who lives in Melbourne, Australia with his owner, Stephy Hirst, and her husband.

According to Stephy, her kitty “was tiny when we got him but then he just started growing and was at 22 lbs one year old”. He’s now about 3.93 ft long and weighs 30.86 lbs!

His daily life consists of waking up early, around 5am, and taking naps on the trampoline in his owner’s backyard. His diet is a bit unlike that of other cats around the world: it consists of kibble in the morning and in the evening…raw kangaroo meat! What?!

Recently, Guinness Records reached out to Omar’s owner and told her that he might actually be a record-breaking size: the longest cat in the world! The previous record holder was Ludo, a Maine Coon from the UK who is about 3.88 ft long.

“At first I thought ‘is this real?’ We thought he might be (the longest cat in the world) but we hadn’t done anything about it because he might not be fully grown yet,” Stephy said.

After the popular Cats of Instagram account shared Omar’s picture, he became instantly famous across the internet and now has thousands of followers on Instagram (@omar_mainecoon). But all that fame doesn’t seem to have gone to his head…

“He sleeps on the couch,” Stephy said, “because he takes up too much room on the bed and he demands we cuddle and pet him all through the night.” Sounds like typical feline behavior to me! ;)
